Friend’s and Family

Come as a guest, leave as a friend.Friends and Family Day

“I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you . . .” (John 15:15)

What a wonderful thought to know that Jesus cares so much about his disciples that he was willing to share His Father’s message with them  There is no greater act that one can show to their friends than to share the love of God with them.  The gift of salvation is the greatest gift you can give to anyone.

It was Jesus who said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  Through Jesus ministry and sacrificial life God has provided the way of salvation.  The only way we can have a proper relationship with God is through our friendship with Jesus.  That friendship is developed through worship and study of the word of God.  The apostle Paul wrote, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).

Friends and Family Day is a great opportunity for the Jasper Church of Christ to be a friend to others and share this great news.  This day is designated as time to invite friends and family to worship God and hear the words of Scripture that bring salvation.  When Jesus asked Peter if he and the other apostles would leave him as many of the disciples had, Peter said, “Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).

Aristotle once said, “Friendship is a thing most necessary to life.”  Friendship with God and Jesus Christ is a thing most necessary to eternal life.  Jesus said, “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life” (John 6:63).  The Jasper Church of Christ invites all of our family and friends to worship and hear these words of eternal life with us on this special day.

Please come and be with us for Friends and Family Day at the Jasper Church of Christ on September 23, 2012.
